WHAT WE DO
“A designer who is not also a couturier...is like a sculptor who gives away his drawings to another, an artisan, to accomplish”
- Yves SAINT LAURENT
We specialize in full-service floral decoration and event design and production; we design arrangements for weddings, events, businesses, residences, and for special deliveries. We offer no standard or formulaic packages, and our signature is creating an intangible element of freshness and inexhaustible creativity that always connects to the individual needs and desires of a client and space.
TEAM
CAROLINE BAILLY
OWNER

Before founding L’Atelier Rouge in 2010, Caroline worked for years in high end private dining and production at some of the finest restaurants and venues in Manhattan. Upon her arrival in New York in the late 90s, she cut her teeth managing events for Daniel Boulud, Geofferey Zakarian, and Olivier Guigni, building off of her training at the prestigious Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.
“When you work in hospitality, you need to understand how to visualize and understand the way the entire event and space work together. Coordinating the flowers, linens, and other decorative elements makes sure that we create something that’s cohesive and beautiful, but always functional.”
TAKAYA SATO
HEAD OF FLORAL DESIGN

Recognized as a classically trained ikebana master in his native Japan, Takaya is the craftsman behind our cutting-edge floral arrangements. Although he’s expanded his style repertoire beyond the strict confines of this art form, elements of ikebana continue to influence his method. There’s a pervasive sense of minimalism, which allows him to recognize and make use of the nuanced qualities of each plant - their texture, color, patterning, and contours to create a harmony. After beginning his training back in Japan more than twenty years ago at his father's flower shop, Takaya has been designing for some of the most elite events in New York and around the globe and brings his refined sensibility to L'Atelier Rouge.
“It is important to to honor each distinct flower, as well as the way they interact with one another. I like to create arrangements that aren’t so precious, that change the way you may look at flowers.”
ATHENA SOVA
JUNIOR CREATIVE

Athena Sova is originally from Detroit, MI. She moved to NYC and attended The Fashion Institute of Technology with a concentration in Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design. After graduating, she focused on her career in events where she eventually found herself attending Flower School NY -- where her love of flowers began!
CHANTEL DUHAMEL
DESIGNER

After making the move from San Diego, California, to New York City for school, Chantel was lucky enough to land a part time job with a Manhattan florist despite her lack of experience. It's been 8 years since then, and she hasn't looked back. Working with flowers has given her the chance to remain playful, always discover new techniques and styles, and celebrate beauty.
