A Haute French Wedding

Bastille Day has just passed this Monday, commemorating the Storming of the Bastille in 1789, and marking the French Revolution.  The largest and most historical military parade takes place each year on the morning of July 14th, on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

In honor of Wedding Wednesday in blog land as well as Bastille Day, we would like to give a cultural nod to our Brides-to-be in a French fashion!  We give you an ode to haute couture style weddings.  Echoing the regal elegance of Marie Antoinette, you will find many a French Bridal setting in castles, as well as magnificently ornate chapels and cathedrals.  If you were to discover what festivities ensue a French wedding, you will find similarities to American traditions.  Like the French proverb says; “Love is the dawn of marriage, and marriage is the sunset of love.”  Au bonheur!  *To happiness.  The French way of course!

Behold the perfect setting for a French bridal party

We’ll bet you didn’t know that the fitting of the garter game is know as “La Jaretiere

The traditional French wedding cake is known as “croque en bouche“; choux pastry balls are piled into a cone and bound with threads of caramel

Dragees” are traditional French wedding candy party favors

Last but not least, don’t forget the bride!  Elle est tres magnifique!

**Verbiage for aspiring husbands:

Veux-tu m’épouser?

(Will you marry me?)
