A Succulent Monday

Offering a whole hand to the gardener whose thumb is not the slightest bit green, are beautiful succulent plants.  Let’s put it this way: they’re not easy to kill and they look wonderful in your home.  Did you know that you can even propagate succulents just from their leaves?  Succulents are a very interesting plant indeed.  They store water in their tissues, thus their leaves are thick and fleshy.  This characteristic is known as “succulence”.  A durable, yet low maintenance plant that possesses longevity, they were designed to survive in harsh environments where most other plants would not last.  You will find them in places with little precipitation and high temperatures, like the desert.  They’re also found on ocean coasts where high levels of dissolved minerals dwell.  Although cacti fall into their classification, there are all kinds of succulents.  Here are a few reasons to love them…

Walking the Walk

Happy Wedding Wednesday to all in blog land!  Are you a bride or groom to be?  Will you be taking the infamous nuptial stroll down the aisle any time soon?  There is so much to think about when planning your wedding, and it is easy to become overwhelmed with all of the details.  When it comes to aisles, surely you’ve walked toward your fiancee on countless occasions, but never like this…  There are just so many ways to do it.  How will you?  After all, you made it this far as a couple.  You went the distance.  All that talk of marriage, and now you’re engaged.  This is the real deal.  It’s time to walk the walk.  On that note, how do you feel about branches?  As you may or may not have already discovered, a branch embellished aisle is an ornate and rather magical one.  Tall and sturdy, or slender and wispy, branches add a very romantic appeal.  Sometimes they may be painted or even gold leafed, other times they appear natural.  Sometimes they have candles, crystals, ornaments, or luminaries hanging from them.  Maybe they are for you, or maybe not, but branches have a special place in our hearts here at L’Atelier Rouge.  They are among our favorite wedding designs.  Many people like to see them as part of their alter or Chuppah.  Others prefer them simply lining the aisles or as centerpieces in the reception.  Then there are those who would prefer to incorporate them all over to create the affect of being in the forrest.  We say, whatever suits your fancy be it branches, twigs or trees!  Wether the presence of them within your design is abundant or slight, it is really up to you and your wedding style.  Here are some examples of beautiful aisles and such, that have been adorned with branches in various ways, to help you visualize what may be created for your unforgettable walk to say “I do!”
